The fifth synergy workshop, as one of the most important steps in the creation and development of İzmir-specific industrial symbiosis program took place on June 1, 2023, within the cooperation and hosting of İzmir Chamber of Commerce (İZTO).
Synergy workshop brought together the companies operating in İzmir province, expanding sustainable production practices, and creating new inter-sectoral employment opportunities. A total of 58 individuals from 42 different organizations participated in the workshop in person.
At the end of the workshop that aimed to reduce the costs of alternative raw material use by detecting the existing and needed resources and by converting wastes into resources 169 different types of resources and 164 potential synergies were identified.
The synergy workshop that brought together the companies/institutions within the scope of the Industrial Symbiosis Project in the İzmir Region project, emphasizes more innovative and sustainable resource use by adopting the approach of the resources seen as waste within an enterprise being considered as a source of raw materials by other enterprises offered all businesses with opportunities to improve their environmental performance and to obtain economic gains.
